NC State to Celebrate 50th Season of Women’s Basketball Throughout 2023-24 Campaign

RALEIGH – The Wolfpack is excited to celebrate the 50th season of women's basketball at NC State throughout the upcoming 2023-24 campaign.

NC State women's basketball played its first season as a varsity team in 1974-75. Since then, the program has amassed over 1,000 victories, 42 winning seasons, nine final top-10 rankings, 28 NCAA Tournament appearances, 15 Sweet 16 berths, 13 ACC titles (six regular-season, seven tournament), 91 All-ACC selections, five All-Americans, and 37 1,000+ point scorers. A half century of passion, inspiration, strength and resilience has defined the Wolfpack women's hoops legacy.

NC State's annual Alumni Game is set for Sunday, Dec. 3 and will serve as a reunion for players and staff members from all 50 squads. The Wolfpack will wear its custom Reynolds uniform that honors the history of the Old Barn and pays homage to the special moments that have occurred on the team's home court. The date was chosen as the team plays against Illinois State, which is coached by Kristen Gillespie who was a member of the Pack's 1998 Final Four squad.

A logo has been created to commemorate the 50th year of the program, and it prominently features Reynolds Coliseum which has served as the Wolfpack's home arena for the entirety of its existence.

Videos looking back at the Pack's rich history will be played at home games throughout the season and will be featured on the team's social media platforms monthly. All content surrounding the 50th season of NC State women's basketball will also be highlighted on a dedicated webpage.

NC State will also place a special emphasis on recognizing and thanking Wolfpack Nation for its continued support over the last five decades.
